In the past few days, a screenshot depicting a segment of an article published in the Lebanese magazine L'Orient Littéraire went viral on social media.
In a nutshell, it says – rather condescendingly – that as Lebanon falls apart, four and a half million 'dimwits' continue to live in denial, all the while priding themselves on being able to ski and swim on the same day.
Ironically, around the same time last year, most of the people who shared this screenshot – conveniently excluding themselves from the “four and a half million dimwits” equation – also shared the below picture. Of course back then, there were no garbage crisis, but the country’s overall state was no better than it is today.
So, Lebanese schizophrenia? You tell me.
